Charley Frank Pride (born March 18, 1938 in Sledge, Mississippi) is a previous Negro League baseball player who became one of a exclusively African Americans to have a successful career in modern country music.
Background
Pride was one of eleven kids natural to desperately unfortunate sharecroppers. His father known when him Charl Frank Pride, however due to the typewriting error in his birth certificate, he was legally natural as Charley Frank Pride. Early music success

Chronology

June 1994: Pride was honored per Academy of Country Music with its prestigious Pioneer Award.

His "Roll On Mississippi" wwhen considered as the official song of his residence state, the stretch of Mississippi main road was known as for him, & he headlined a favorite Christmas performance for President and Mrs. Clinton at the White House.
July 1999: Pride received his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
October 4, 2000, Charley was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. His title was announced by Brenda Lee.
2003: Pride's album Comfort of Her Wings is released in Music City Records.

Pride returned to his hometown of Sledge & purchased a cloth domestic in which he got been innate.
